Oslo Municipality enters into agreement with Fremby for monitoring emissions at construction sites
Oslo Municipality takes a big step in digitizing all projects for the municipality by purchasing a digital reporting platform.
In December, Oslo Municipality announced a competition for the procurement of tools to monitor emissions in construction projects. Fremby won the competition with its tool for automatic reporting from construction machinery, trucks, and equipment.
This means that machines used in projects carried out for agencies in Oslo Municipality will report machine and consumption data through Fremby. For Oslo Municipality, this means that many of today's reporting needs can be automated.
"Through Fremby, we can, among other things, follow up on how many liters of fuel or the number of kilowatt-hours an excavator has used during a day. Together, the machine reports constitute an accurate and verifiable climate account for construction projects. Daily automatic reporting allows both us and the developer to follow up on projects in a completely different way than before," says Svein Nilsplass - Area Manager Oslo NCC Infrastructure. "When we get the opportunity to report in this way as well, we will save a lot of time.
"For contractors, the solution will mean significantly simpler reporting. Machines, equipment, and vehicles are connected, and relevant reporting data flows easily between actors after simple agreements and pre-approval. The data flow is clear, and data security is well taken care of. Everyone should be confident that only data meant to be shared is shared further.
"This is a confirmation of the usefulness of digitizing the entire value chain in a construction project. Only when all parties meeting in a project have a platform for easily sharing data will we see the great benefits of digitization and automation," says Kjell Erik Ollendorff Lien, CEO of Fremby AS.
Fremby also emphasizes the importance of Oslo Municipality being forward-leaning in their purchases and contract designs. "By setting requirements for data reporting, Oslo Municipality will set a standard, as they have done for emission-free construction sites," continues Kjell Erik Ollendorff Lien.
